Are you an experienced horticulture professional with a passion for orchard operations and team leadership? Nightingale Bros. is seeking a proactive and hands-on Orchard Manager to oversee the daily operations of their Stanley Orchard to ensure optimum productivity and fruit quality.
A proud fourth-generation orchard and produce business, Nightingale Bros. has been cultivating apples in the picturesque Wandiligong Valley since 1954, spanning over 60 years of family-led excellence. Their orchards, located across Wandiligong, Buckland, Stanley, and Batlow, produce a diverse range of fruits, including popular apple varieties, as well as chestnuts and hazelnuts.
Nestled in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, Stanley is a small, vibrant rural community known for its rich red soil, cool climate, and thriving fruit-growing heritage. Just 10 minutes from the historic town of Beechworth, Stanley offers a peaceful lifestyle surrounded by natural beauty, boutique farms, local wineries, and a strong sense of community. Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate orchard activities including planting, pruning, harvesting, and pest/disease management
Operate and maintain orchard machinery and irrigation systems
Lead, train, and manage a team of orchard workers and seasonal staff
Monitor crop health and implement effective horticultural practices
Ensure safe operation of all equipment and compliance with OHS standards
Essential Requirements:
Basic knowledge of horticulture, irrigation systems, machinery operation, and tractor driving
Proven experience with pruning techniques and orchard care
Chainsaw Ticket, current and valid
Forklift Licence, current and valid
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Attributes:
Previous experience in a similar orchard or horticultural management role
Leadership qualities and the ability to motivate a diverse team
